Long Run On The Beach

I had been a little bummed that we hadn’t gone to the beach in the past month given how close we are to the shoreline, so J & I decided to drive to Huntington beach on a whim yesterday to do our long run.  We drove 13 miles to run 8.  The day started out cloudy and stayed that way for a good part of the day, which is ideal for running (at least for me).  However, by the time we got to HB at 4PM, the sun was out in full blast.  We parked at the southern end of HB and ran on the running/bike path.  HB is about 8.5 miles end-to-end, so we ran halfway before turning around.  Unlike Newport Beach, HB is on a ‘pancake’ terrain, making it easy cruising (though we were running against a breeze during the first half), which is ideal for long runs (minus the bike cruisers and crowd you’ll have to maneuver around from time to time).  So from now on, we’ll be logging our long runs along the beach.
