New Route

I managed to put in the 12 miles after work today running the new route.  This route has one massive continuous hill between miles 8 and 10 with an elevation gain of 280ft.  I managed to maintain the average pace at around 9 min/mile throughout.  Slowing down on the downhill to conserve energy for the uphill later on.  I figured I should train consistently this way so that on race day I don’t take off on the downhills and later regret it when I have no gas left for the uphills.  I like this route because it is very similar to the SD course, which has the 250ft gain between miles 7 and 10.5.  So if I continue to run this route for all my long runs, I should be ready for the SD race.  Now off to yoga to stretch out those hams…
